Software Installation

To install XJTAG, download the software from the XJTAG website and run the installer. (You will need a login to download the software - you may have been given one, or you can apply on the website.) You will then be guided through the installation process.

Driver Installation

When the main XJTAG system has been installed, another program will launch to set up drivers for the various types of XJLink JTAG controllers.

Installer command-line switches

The XJTAG setup program has a number of command-line switches that customise its behaviour.

Licensing

Unless you're using network licensing, you will need an authorisation code installed in your XJLink to use the system. Use the XJLink Manager to view and manage authorisation codes.

In many cases, the XJLink will come with an authorisation code already installed, but in some cases, e.g. evaluations, the authorisation code will be sent separately via e-mail. Installing the code is simply a matter of copying the code into the clipboard and then clicking Add Licence in the XJLink Manager and pasting the copied code in.

Starting

To use any of the XJTAG tools on a board, it must be connected to the PC via the XJLink. First connect the PC to the XJLink (JTAG controller). Then use a cable to connect the XJLink to your board.

It is usually best to connect the board to be tested before running the XJTAG tools.
