Clicking Hyperlinks In Formatted Log Files

The Log File Viewer can be launched as a stand alone application or it can be launched from XJRunner, XJInvestigator or XJDeveloper. Formatted Log Files can contain hyperlinks which when clicked will display a pin, net or device in the Layout Viewer, Schematic Viewer, Explorer or Analyser. In all cases:

Hyperlinks can only be used to view circuit elements in the viewers that are available:

  • The Layout Viewer is available for projects with an ODB++ netlist, and XJPack files with the embedded viewers included.
  • The Schematic Viewer is available if schematics have been added to the project.

Clicking Hyperlinks in the Standalone Log File Viewer Application

If the Log File Viewer is launched as a standalone application, the project used to navigate to circuit elements when a hyperlink is clicked is opened from an XJPack file. There are two ways that the XJPack file can be opened:

  • The path of the XJPack file that generated the log file is stored in the log file. If an XJPack file is found at this stored path, this will be used.
  • If an XJPack file is not automatically found, an open file dialog will be shown to allow the correct XJPack file to be selected.

Clicking Hyperlinks when the Log File Viewer is launched from XJRunner

The Log File Viewer can be launched from within XJRunner. If there is already a project open in the application then this project will be used by the Log File Viewer to navigate to circuit elements. If no project is open, an XJPack file will be opened in the same way as for the standalone Log File Viewer application.

Clicking Hyperlinks when the Log File Viewer is launched from XJDeveloper or XJInvestigator

If the Log File Viewer is launched from XJDeveloper or XJInvestigator the current project is used to navigate to circuit elements when a hyperlink is clicked. In this case hyperlinks can be used to display circuit elements in Explorer or Analyser in addition to Layout Viewer and Schematic Viewer.
