Toolbar Features
The toolbar has several buttons which allow quick access to some common operations. Items are displayed greyed-out if the action is unavailable.

Zoom In - Zoom into the screen, increasing the magnification.
Zoom Out - Zoom out of the screen, decreasing the magnification.
Bottom View - View the board from the opposite side, flipping the image from left to right and reversing the order of layers.
Zoom To Selection - Zoom so that the selected objects fill the screen.
Mouse Mode
The Mouse Mode dropdown controls the action of mouse clicks and hovering.
Pan - Pan the image by dragging the mouse while holding down the left mouse button. This can also be achieved with the middle mouse button (scroll click) regardless of the current mouse mode.
Select - Click on a component, pin, pad or part of a track to select it or the containing net. Drag a rectangle to select all objects in the rectangle.
Zoom - Drag a rectangle on the image to zoom.

Note that holding the Ctrl modifier key in any mode will temporarily change the left-click functionality to Pan.
Holding Shift will temporarily change the mouse mode to the Select Mode with the Multiple Selection control enabled, and holding both the Shift and Ctrl modifier keys will temporarily switch the mouse mode to the Zoom Mode. Releasing these modifier keys will return the mouse mode to the active mode prior to entering any temporary state.
Selection
The Selection Type dropdown controls the action of mouse clicks and hovering.
Components sets the selection type to Components.
Nets sets the selection type to Nets. Selecting a net will highlight all the features belonging to that net as defined in the ODB++ project.
Pins sets the selection type to Pins. Selecting a pin will also select the associated pads.
Any sets the selection type to Any, which is the default. Any component, pin or net can then be selected.
N.B. The terms Components (in the Layout Viewer) and Devices (throughout the rest of the XJTAG software suite) are interchangeable. Components is used here as that is the term used in ODB++.
