Add/Edit Variant Dialog

This dialog allows you to setup a variant.

A variant must be given a unique name. If the name is missing or not unique, an error is shown next to the entry.

One or more boards in the project may have their BOM file, schematic files and unfitted suggestion rules varied. Use the toolbar buttons, or the appropriate hyperlinks in the BOM File or Schematics column, to vary these components for the currently selected board.

The toolbar buttons are:

• Import BOM... - Launches the Import BOM dialog to import new BOM data for the variant.
• Add Schematic... - Launches the Assign Schematic Files dialog to include variant schematics.
• Unfitted Rules... - Launches the Unfitted Suggestion Rules dialog.

Any variant schematics are displayed alongside the root project schematics when choosing to view items from the Variations list in Schematic Viewer.

The varied BOM information is displayed in Explorer when viewing items in the Variations list. The information is also used by the Suggest Variations Wizard, in conjunction with the unfitted suggestion rules, to provide variation suggestions.

If any changes to the imported BOM data or the unfitted suggestion rules are made then clicking OK will automatically launch the Suggest Variations Wizard.
